Basketball Recap: Northwestern Find Success

Northwestern won the last time they faced Rock Hill, and Jayshawn Reid did his part to make sure it happened again. The Northwestern Trojans secured a 59-54 W over the Rock Hill Bearcats on Tuesday thanks in part to Reid, who went 8 for 10 en route to 18 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

Despite the defeat, Rock Hill had strong showings from Nigel Lightner, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points and three steals, and Zaire Williams, who went 6 for 12 en route to 13 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Deionne Robertson, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Northwestern's record now sits at 5-10. As for Rock Hill, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-10.

Northwestern will head out to challenge Indian Land at 7:45 p.m. on January 21st. Indian Land will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Northwestern surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rock Hill, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-50 defeat against Catawba Ridge on the 17th.
