Woodstock had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Etowah Eagles. The Wolverines gained 144 more yards on the day, but it was the Eagles that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why Woodstock lost, don't look at Graham Burmeister. Despite the final result, he rushed for 130 yards and one TD while picking up 8.1 yards per carry, and also threw for 211 yards and one touchdown. Burmeister showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 60 yards. 150 of Burmeister's passing yards were hauled in by Rylan Hubbard.

Zeke Douglass was nothing short of spectacular for Etowah: he threw for 209 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 76 yards and one score on only eight carries. The Eagles' leading receiver Walker Hughes was Douglass' top target yet again, picking up 76 receiving yards, while also punching in one touchdown on the ground.

Woodstock has already played their next match, a 33-7 win against Woodland on the 22nd. As for Etowah, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-24 loss against Sprayberry on the 22nd.
