Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Devine's 12th in Last 13 Outings

Devine won the last time they faced Pleasanton and things went their way on Friday too. The Warhorses put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 8-2 victory. Considering the Warhorses have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Tucker Traylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maddy Hester was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Yaya Rodriguez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Devine is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Pleasanton, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 17-12-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Devine will welcome Antonian Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warhorses will need to watch out since the Apaches have now posted at least ten runs in their last eight games. As for Pleasanton, they will take on Somerset at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
