Preview: NSU University Sharks vs. Miami Country Day Spartans
The NSU University Sharks will square off against the Miami Country Day Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. NSU University knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 24 matches -- so hopefully Miami Country Day likes a good challenge.
With a playoff game on the line, NSU University rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They breezed by the Lions on the road to the tune of 100-22. NSU University's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Anthony Ferrer was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last 12 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ian Donahue, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Miami Country Day waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 116-49 win over Avant Garde Academy. That looming 116-49 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Miami Country Day yet this season.
Herbert Wilson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 51 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Reid, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, ten assists, and ten steals.
NSU University is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. As for Miami Country Day, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. NSU University hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 77.9 points per game. However, it's not like Miami Country Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging 70.5 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
NSU University beat Miami Country Day 86-77 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Does NSU University have another victory up their sleeve, or will Miami Country Day turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
