Baseball Recap: Grove City Christian Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bishop Rosecrans last Monday, Grove City Christian came back down to earth. The Eagles fell 5-1 to the Fairfield Christian Academy Knights on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Jeff Collins was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Collins was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Collins wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jadunn Harris, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Eli Curry also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Grove City Christian's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Fairfield Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Grove City Christian will take on rival Berne Union at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Fairfield Christian Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Fisher Catholic at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
