Basketball Recap: McNeil Comes Up Short

McNeil was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against the Stony Point Tigers, falling 94-48. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 835th, while the Tigers are ranked 20th).

Stony Point's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Uzziah Buntyn, who went 8 of 15 on his way to 22 points. Elijah Clemons was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine steals.

McNeil's defeat dropped their record down to 5-23. As for Stony Point, they are on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 21 games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season.

McNeil didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-38 loss against Vandegrift on the 24th. Stony Point has also already played their next contest, a 65-33 victory against Cedar Ridge on the 24th.
