Baseball Recap: Beech Grove's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After low-scoring totals in their previous four matchup, Beech Grove brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They blew past the Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Raiders 14-4 on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Hornets as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Griffin Matracia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Guerin Boshears was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Brayden Cruse was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Beech Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Beech Grove picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-10. As for Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8.
