Basketball Recap: Callie Genece's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lab University Prep National over Arborbrook Christian Academy

After flying high against Greater Cabarrus S back in December of 2024, Lab University Prep National came back down to earth. The Lab University Prep National Kings fell 51-39 to the Arborbrook Christian Academy Falcons on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Kings came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Falcons are ranked 114th).

Lab University Prep National's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Callie Genece, who posted 18 points in addition to five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kali Dancy, who scored 17 points and three steals.

Lab University Prep National's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Arborbrook Christian Academy, their record now sits at 8-2.

Lab University Prep National will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on 1 of 1 Academy on February 3rd. As for Arborbrook Christian Academy, they will take on Providence Classical at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Providence Classical will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Arborbrook Christian Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
