Recap: Petal Panthers vs. Brandon Bulldogs
The Petal Panthers lost against the Brandon Bulldogs back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Petal fell to Brandon 57-52. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Petal in their matchups with Brandon: they've now lost five in a row.
Brandon was led to victory by Braylon Barnes and Nate White. Barnes scored 15 points along with five rebounds, while White dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. The contest was Barnes' 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ottis Harrison, who scored six points along with three steals.
Petal's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Brandon, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Petal will challenge Northwest Rankin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Northwest Rankin is ranked 141st, while Petal is ranked 121st). As for Brandon, they will head out on the road to face off against Pearl at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pearl knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Brandon likes a good challenge.
