Softball Game Preview: Airport Jets vs. St. Mary Catholic Central Falcons/Kestrels

Airport is 2-7 against St. Mary Catholic Central since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Jets will head out on the road to take on the Falcons/Kestrels at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Airport was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Saline 3-2.

Alayna McDaniel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Airport's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Tilley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, St. Mary Catholic Central took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. Everything went their way against Ida as they made off with a 10-2 victory. The Falcons/Kestrels not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024.
