Preview: D'Iberville Warriors vs. St. Martin Yellow Jackets

D'Iberville has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the St. Martin Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Tuesday, D'Iberville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-44 to Harrison Central. While losing is never fun, D'Iberville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Harrison Central is ranked 31st).

Meanwhile, St. Martin came up short against Ocean Springs on Friday and fell 45-33.

Despite their loss, St. Martin saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ty'Lah Whitlock, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Tony Mora was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.

St. Martin struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

D'Iberville has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. St. Martin's record now sits at 4-17.

D'Iberville was able to grind out a solid win over St. Martin in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 48-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for D'Iberville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
