Recap: St. Thomas Aquinas Trojans vs. Neumann-Goretti Saints
On Saturday, things could have been worse for St. Thomas Aquinas, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 69-52 loss to Neumann-Goretti. While losing is never fun, St. Thomas Aquinas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 43rd in New Jersey, while Neumann-Goretti is ranked eighth in Pennsylvania).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Neumann-Goretti to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carryn Easley, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Reginna Baker, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
St. Thomas Aquinas' loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Neumann-Goretti, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
St. Thomas Aquinas will be playing in front of their home fans against South Brunswick at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. South Brunswick is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Neumann-Goretti, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Imhotep Charter at 6:00 p.m. on January 14th.
