Baseball Recap: Nixon-Smiley Mustangs vs. Goliad Tigers
Nixon-Smiley extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-15. They lost 10-0 to the Goliad Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 on April 2nd.
As for Goliad, they pushed their record up to 20-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.
For Goliad's part, Cy Henke and Keelan Coley did most of the damage at the plate: Henke went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Coley got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Corbin Rosenquest, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Nixon-Smiley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Goliad, they will head out on the road to square off against Navarro at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
