Football Recap: St. John Paul II Academy Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Saint Andrew's, St. John Paul II Academy was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on Somerset Prep with a sharp 40-18 victory. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their eight-point performance the contest before.

Nicholas Pouncey was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 239 yards and a pair of TDs, and also punched in one score on the ground. What's more, he racked up 85.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Leanthony Hardin was in the mix as well, providing St. John Paul II Academy with two touchdowns.

St. John Paul II Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Somerset Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, St. John Paul II Academy will challenge Pine Crest at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Somerset Prep, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Saint Andrew's at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Somerset Prep will need to watch out since the Scots have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
