Basketball Recap: Kearney Find Success

If Excelsior Springs wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Kearney, they should've done a better job of containing Brooke Paalhar. The Kearney Bulldogs breezed by the Excelsior Springs Tigers to the tune of 54-20 on Friday thanks in part to Paalhar, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 17 points and seven steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last four games she's played.

Ryleigh Van Emmerik was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in December of 2023.

Kearney's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Excelsior Springs, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-9.

Kearney will venture away from home to challenge Raytown South at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Excelsior Springs, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Smithville at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
