Baseball Recap: Monarch Comes Up Short

The matchup between Monarch and Fort Collins on Friday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Coyotes lost 15-5 to the Lambkins. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Coyotes of the 1-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Blake Thompson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Dominic Cortez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Monarch's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Fort Collins, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Monarch will be taking part in a tournament against Canyon View at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Fort Collins, they will welcome Horizon at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
