Basketball Recap: Okawville Takes a Loss

Okawville lost against Breese Central back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Okawville Rockets received a blow as they fell 47-30 to the Breese Central Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Cougars are ranked seventh).

Despite the loss, Okawville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jilien Harre posted eight points and four steals. What's more, Harre also posted a 67% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024.

Okawville's defeat dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Breese Central, they pushed their record up to 26-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Okawville will square off against Nashville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Nashville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matchups. As for Breese Central, they will be playing at home against Freeburg at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
