Softball Recap: Stevenson Takes a Loss

Stevenson extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-11 in the process. They came up short against the Alisal Trojans, falling 8-1. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

Stevenson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maria Hall, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Alisal, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games.

On Alisal's side, Nevaeh Lopez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Lopez has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jasmine Estrada was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Micah Smith was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Alisal beat Stevenson by a score of 12-0 later that day.
