Basketball Recap: Sugar Creek Charter Comes Up Short

Sugar Creek Charter lost against Queen's Grant back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Sugar Creek Charter Wildcats were beaten by the Queen's Grant Stallions 69-7. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 552nd, while the Stallions are ranked 175th).

Queen's Grant's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Za'Miya Bynum led the charge by dropping a double-double with 33 points and 11 steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Bynum has scored at least a third of Queen's Grant's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Misa Garris, who dropped a triple-double with 19 points, 11 assists, and ten steals.

Sugar Creek Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Queen's Grant, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Sugar Creek Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Queen's Grant, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Jackson Day at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Jackson Day comes in on four and Queen's Grant on nine.
