Basketball Recap: West Point Comes Up Short

On Tuesday, the West Point Dragons were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 39-33 to the Desert Ridge Jaguars. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Desert Ridge found their leader in sophomore Trinity Smith, who went 8 of 13 on her way to 16 points and six rebounds. Smith is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Blair, who posted eight points.

West Point now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Desert Ridge, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

West Point will be playing in front of their home fans against Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Skyline's defense has only allowed 29.8 points per game this season, so West Point's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Desert Ridge, they will square off against Casteel at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
