Softball Game Preview: Great Crossing vs. Eastern Eagles

Great Crossing will take on the Eastern Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Great Crossing fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Lafayette on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Generals by a score of 4-3.

Brenna Parker spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Ellie Hoover made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashtyn Holbrook, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Eastern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Ballard, falling 11-1.

Great Crossing has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.
