Basketball Recap: Victory Christian Academy Knights vs. Eastlake Titans

The Victory Christian Academy Knights waltzed into their game on Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 69-55 win over Eastlake. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Victory Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Derek Edmond, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Edmond is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chato Garcia, who scored nine points along with six steals and five rebounds.

Victory Christian Academy pushed their record up to 14-8 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.9 points per game. As for Eastlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Victory Christian Academy will challenge the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Olympian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 16 matchups. As for Eastlake, they will head out on the road to take on the Mariners at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mar Vista is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
