Recap: Greenville Tech Charter Warriors vs. Chesnee Eagles
The Greenville Tech Charter Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 37-28 to Chesnee. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Greenville Tech Charter of the 44-40 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Greenville Tech Charter had strong showings from Sophie Chasteen, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Josey Stefanik, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stefanik has scored all season.
Pearl Holloway continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chesnee, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Holloway has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Liana Kreydich, who scored five points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Greenville Tech Charter bumped their record down to 3-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Chesnee, their win bumped their record up to 3-18.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greenville Tech Charter will take on Greer Middle College at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Greer Middle College is ranked 238th, while Greenville Tech Charter is ranked 223rd). As for Chesnee, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Blacksburg at 6:00 p.m. Blacksburg will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
