Temple City extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 7-11 in the process. They lost 17-8 to the South Pasadena Tigers. The Rams were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 8-6.
Melinda Lansford made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI. Taylor Thomas was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
As for South Pasadena, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-6. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On South Pasadena's side, Lucia Atencio and Natalie Kan made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Atencio struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off eight hits. Meanwhile, Kan tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Atencio went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Kan went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Atencio has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Taelyn Adams and Emma Becerra did most of the damage at the plate: Adams went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Becerra went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Adams a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cassidy Lee, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Temple City wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 8-6 victory against San Marino on the 29th. Hopefully South Pasadena paid attention to the Rams' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
