Basketball Recap: Jayden Hill Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Pinecrest

Lee County hadn't done well against Pinecrest recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Lee County Yellow Jackets narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Pinecrest Patriots 47-44. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellow Jackets.

Lee County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Hill led the charge by going 7 for 11 on his way to 16 points and six steals. Thanks to that strong game, Hill now owns an excellent 51.7% shooting accuracy. Aiden Poole also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Pinecrest lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Elijah Melton, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Savion Jackson was another key player, putting up ten points.

The victory got Lee County back to even at 9-9. As for Pinecrest, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-7.

Lee County has already played their next game, a 54-53 win against Union Pines on the 5th. As for Pinecrest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 65-46 victory against Scotland on the 7th.
