Softball Recap: Central East Bengals vs. Sanger Apaches
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Central East walked away with it. They blew past the Sanger Apaches 11-1 on Tuesday. The Bengals haven't had any issues with the Apaches recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Kaia Galaviz spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ella Bakholdin, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kiki Diaz, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Central East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.
