Beech has gone 9-1 against Portland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Beech Buccaneers will be taking part in a tournament against the Portland Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Portland took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Beech, who comes in off a win.

Beech is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Rossview by a score of 10-7 on Saturday. Beech's victory was all the more impressive since the Hawks were averaging only 3.5 runs allowed on the season.

Cooper McCandless looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Jack Douglass was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cade Philpot, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Beech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Portland was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hendersonville. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Beech's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Portland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Everything went Beech's way against Portland in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, as Beech made off with a 16-0 victory. Will Beech repeat their success, or does Portland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
