Baseball Game Preview: San Diego Cavers vs. La Jolla Vikings

For the second straight game, San Diego will face off against La Jolla. The Cavers will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: San Diego has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while La Jolla will arrive with six straight wins.

On Tuesday, San Diego came up short against La Jolla and fell 6-2.

For La Jolla's part, Abel Delgadillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carter Strauss, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Hank Hansen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

La Jolla's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for San Diego, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14-1.
