Basketball Recap: Central Catholic Takes a Loss

Central Catholic lost against De La Salle Collegiate last Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Central Catholic Fighting Irish fell 68-56 to the De La Salle Collegiate Pilots. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Fighting Irish came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 44th in Ohio, while the Pilots are ranked 153rd in Michigan).

Central Catholic has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for De La Salle Collegiate, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-14 record this season.

Looking ahead, Central Catholic will square off against St. Francis de Sales at 6:00 p.m. on February 17th. Central Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully St. Francis de Sales likes a good challenge. As for De La Salle Collegiate, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-54 defeat against University of Detroit Jesuit on the 11th.
