Basketball Recap: Leesburg Snags 11th Victory in Last 12 Games

It's playoff time, and Leesburg had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took down the Lecanto Panthers 61-46 on Thursday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 57-46 win two weeks ago.

Leesburg got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Xavier Campbell out in front who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelo Moton, who scored 15 points.

Lecanto's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Braylen Moore, who earned 13 points and five boards, and JT Tipton, who had 13 points. Tipton is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Josh Patrick, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.

Leesburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points over those games. Lecanto's loss dropped their record down to 26-4.

Leesburg will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Ponte Vedra at 3:00 p.m. on March 5th. Ponte Vedra will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Leesburg surely won't give up without a fight. Lecanto does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
