Softball Recap: Hamilton's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hamilton walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Fayette County Tigers a 6-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Aggies, who have now won 13 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Molly Sandlin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Emily Jones was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brilyn Gilstrap, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Hamilton moved to 21-22 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Fayette County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 14 of their last 17 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-20 record this season.

As of now, neither Hamilton nor Fayette County have any future games scheduled.
