Baseball Game Preview: Clifton Central Comets vs. Kankakee Kays

The Clifton Central Comets will venture away from home to face off against the Kankakee Kays at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Clifton Central is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last seven games.

On Thursday, Clifton Central made easy work of Momence and carried off a 7-1 victory. Considering the Comets have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kankakee came out on top against Thornridge on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run first inning. The Kays never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 14-0 win.

The team relied heavily on Jaden Villafuerte, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Devin Arbour was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Clifton Central's victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Kankakee, their win bumped their record up to 6-19.

Clifton Central got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Kankakee by a conclusive 7-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
