Preview: Ridge Point Panthers vs. Fort Bend Travis Tigers
Ridge Point is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Fort Bend Travis is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Ridge Point Panthers will take on the Fort Bend Travis Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Ridge Point took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 62-7 win over Fort Bend Austin. Given Ridge Point's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Fort Bend Austin is ranked 524th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Austin Carlisle, who threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes, and also punched in three touchdowns on the ground. Dane Jones was another key contributor, picking up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Fort Bend Austin to a paltry 11 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Ridge Point's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out 6.5 times before it was all said and done. Fort Bend Austin's QB won't forget Clinton Anyagafu anytime soon given Anyagafu sacked him six times.
Meanwhile, Fort Bend Travis made easy work of Fort Bend Austin two weeks ago and carried off a 35-13 win.
Their wins bumped Ridge Point to 7-2 and Fort Bend Travis to 6-2.
Everything came up roses for Ridge Point against Fort Bend Travis when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 43-15 win. Does Ridge Point have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fort Bend Travis turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
