Recap: Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds vs. Miami-Yoder Buffaloes
If The Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds were riding high off their 56-20 takedown of the Manzanola Bobcats last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sangre de Cristo was outmatched by Miami-Yoder on the road and fell 44-16. Howard was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards. James Orozco was in the mix too, providing Miami-Yoder with two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Miami-Yoder's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Isaac Labrecque and his two sacks.
Sangre de Cristo's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.7 points per game. As for Miami-Yoder, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
