Basketball Game Preview: Monte Vista Pirates vs. Montezuma-Cortez Panthers

Two dominant guards in Azariah Hurtado and Trey Hall are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Monte Vista Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Monday, Monte Vista didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Bayfield, but they still walked away with a 44-40 victory.

Meanwhile, Montezuma-Cortez waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took down the Bobcats 64-50.

Montezuma-Cortez's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points over those games. As for Monte Vista, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
