Football Recap: Valiant Cross Academy Comes Up Short

Valiant Cross Academy played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 54-6 defeat at the hands of the Lowndes Academy Rebels. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while the Rebels are ranked 138th).

Jeremy Hardy Jr went supernova For Lowndes Academy., rushing for 139 yards and three scores on only five carries. Hardy Jr's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 139 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Huston Hampton, who picked up 87 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

This is the second loss in a row for Valiant Cross Academy and nudges their season record down to 1-5. As for Lowndes Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Valiant Cross Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lakeside School at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Lowndes Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Morgan Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
