Basketball Recap: Central Pointe Christian Academy Gets the Win

After losing to Southland Christian the last time they met, Central Pointe Christian Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Central Pointe Christian Academy CPCA came out on top against the Southland Christian FLAMES by a score of 66-53 on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Southland Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sebastian Rivera went 8 for 19 on his way to 22 points. That was a full 41.5% of Southland Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Carlos Escalera Jr., who put up 13 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Central Pointe Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Southland Christian, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Pointe Christian Academy has already played their next match (against West Oaks Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Southland Christian will be playing at home against IMG Academy Silver at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southland Christian is facing IMG Academy Silver at the right time seeing as IMG Academy Silver is stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
