Baseball Recap: Wake Forest Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Wake Forest entered their tilt with Franklinton on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Red Rams. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-1 on Tuesday.

Carson Crider looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Stephen Crater and Hunter Kisse did most of the damage at the plate: Crater got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Kisse went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three runs gave Crater a new career-high. Easton Booser was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Wake Forest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .517 or higher in three consecutive games.

Wake Forest's record now sits at 15-2. As for Franklinton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.

Wake Forest and Franklinton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Cougars will take on Northern Durham at 7:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (26 vs. 406). Meanwhile, Franklinton (ranked 244th) will meet Vance County (ranked 538th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
