Softball Game Preview: Fullerton Indians vs. Mater Dei Monarchs

The Fullerton Indians will take on the Mater Dei Monarchs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Fullerton 2.5, Mater Dei 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Fullerton fell victim to La Mirada and their airtight pitching crew last Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Matadores. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Indians were not able to get on the board.

Fullerton got a good showing from Katelynn Mathews, who tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mathews has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

Meanwhile, Mater Dei faced El Segundo in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Mater Dei fell 5-2 to El Segundo. The Monarchs' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Mater Dei's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5-1. As for Fullerton, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
