The Tri-Central Trojans will face off against the Sheridan Blackhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tri-Central has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 17.
On Wednesday, Tri-Central came up short against Clinton Central and fell 6-2.
Emily Maruszewski was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriana Perez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sheridan). They were the clear victors by a 17-9 margin over Herron on Monday. With that victory, the Blackhawks brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.
Norah Adams made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and three doubles. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Ali Pickard was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Lainey Mendenhall was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Sheridan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .541. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.
Sheridan's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Tri-Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Tri-Central has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sheridan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Tri-Central took their victory against Sheridan in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Blackhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
