Baseball Game Preview: Randallstown Rams vs. Poly Engineers

The Randallstown Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Poly Engineers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Randallstown has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Randallstown gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Pikesville. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by just one run.

The team relied heavily on Chris Mcleod, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Keith Mcknight also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, while Poly put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Douglass. The Engineers put the hurt on the Mighty Ducks with a sharp 14-0 win. Considering the Engineers have won six matchups by more than ten runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Randallstown is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Poly, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.

Randallstown beat Poly 13-10 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
