Basketball Recap: Chase Lantelme's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Stratford over Pampa

Stratford lost against Pampa back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Stratford Elks fell to the Pampa Harvesters 51-46. While losing is never fun, the Elks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 792nd, while the Harvesters are ranked 374th).

Stratford lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Chase Lantelme, who posted nine points and eight boards. Lantelme is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Julio Valdez was another key player, putting up 12 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Stratford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Stratford's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Pampa, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-7.

Stratford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-34 loss against Dalhart on the 27th. As for Pampa, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 61-30 win against Follett on the 27th.
