Softball Recap: D'hanis Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for D'Hanis, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 19-15 victory over the Hermleigh Cardinals on Saturday. This was payback for the Cowboys, who suffered a 9-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Kami Johnson, who went 3-for-4 with five runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2025. Joanie Wilson was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two runs and one double.

D'Hanis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

D'Hanis has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.1 runs over those games. As for Hermleigh, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. D'Hanis will square off against Leakey at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Hermleigh, they will host Roby at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
