Basketball Recap: Desert Mirage Comes Up Short

Desert Mirage lost against Cathedral City back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Desert Mirage RAMS took a 42-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cathedral City Lions. The RAMS have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Desert Mirage still got an impressive performance from Edy Espinoza, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards gave Espinoza a new career-high. Adan Martinez was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Desert Mirage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Desert Mirage's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Cathedral City, they moved to 3-13 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Desert Mirage will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Banning at 5:30 p.m. Banning is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.1 points per game this season. As for Cathedral City, they will head out to take on Desert Hot Springs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Hot Springs has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 206 points over their last three contests.
