Football Recap: Walker Valley's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home + How To Watch

Walker Valley dropped to 7-3 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They took a 16-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rhea County Golden Eagles. The Mustangs gained 132 more yards on the day, but it was the Golden Eagles that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why Walker Valley lost, don't look at Cason Cunningham. Despite the final result, he rushed for 134 yards and one touchdown. Cunningham has become a key player for the Mustangs: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

As for Rhea County, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.5 points on average over those games.

It was another big night for Jaxton Schmitt, who rushed for 98 yards on only 11 carries, and also threw for 61 yards and one TD.
