Recap: Silsbee Tigers vs. Jasper Bulldogs

The Silsbee Tigers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They slipped by Jasper 21-20. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but Silsbee was the better team in the second half.

Silsbee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Moshier, who rushed for 11 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Dre'lon Miller, who gained 120 total yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Silsbee's defense and their three sacks. In that department, Garry White was the leader with two sacks.

Despite the loss, Jasper still got an impressive performance from Tyanthony Smith, who rushed for 243 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry.

Silsbee pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Hardin-Jefferson and 0-10 Brazosport (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36% over those games). As for Jasper, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Silsbee will be playing in front of their home fans against Sealy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sealy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while Silsbee is ranked 105th). As for Jasper, they will take on Columbia at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
