Neuse Charter is  a perfect 10-0 against Union since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field  against the Spartans  at 6:00  p.m. Union took a loss in their last  game and will be looking to turn the tables on Neuse Charter, who comes in off a win.
Neuse Charter hadn't beaten Lakewood on the road since May 11, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them  on Tuesday. The Cougars walked away with  a   9-6  win over the Leopards. The  victory made it back-to-back  wins for the Cougars.
 Connor Phillips made a splash while hitting and pitching. He  struck out six batters over  five innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   five  hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent  for a while: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He also put up a  double, which was his first of the season.
 In other batting news,  Hayden Jones was  incredible,  scoring a  run while going 3-for-3.  Will Denning was another key player,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while  getting on base  in two of his four plate appearances.
 Meanwhile, Union was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Tuesday as the team picked up their 26th straight  loss  dating back to last season. They came up short against  Hobbton, falling  16-0.
 Union's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Neuse Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10.
 Neuse Charter took their  win against Union  in their previous matchup  two weeks ago by a conclusive  14-0 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success,  or do  the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
