League recap: Verdugo's hot bat leads Rancho

I Sunrise - Northeast league recap: 3/27/13

Jose Verdugo was on fire this week, as he led I Sunrise - Northeast with a .650 average, two home runs and 18 RBIs. Rancho went 2-2.

The Rams' Josh Mill was the best pitcher in the league this week. He won three games and struck out 18 batters.

Rancho scored 42 runs this week to lead the league, but Green Valley is tops in runs scored this year, with 91.

The league boasted six .400 hitters over the past week. Leading the pack was Ty Burger, who hit 1.000 by going 3-for-3.

With three wins and 18 strikeouts, Mill was the top pitcher in the league.



Ryan Jackson led the Gators to a win on March 20, as he notched ten strikeouts to beat Boulder City, 14-4. He gave up three hits and four runs over five innings of work.

Michael Hillcoat drove in four runners on Wednesday in Green Valley's 14-4 victory over the Eagles. He went 2-for-3 and scored two runs.
