Baseball Recap: Animo Bunche Takes a Loss

Animo Bunche extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-7 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Central City Value Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, with their most recent defeat being a 17-2 loss on April 2nd.

As for Central City Value, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games.

For Central City Value's part, Angel Chino was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Chino is becoming a predictor of Central City Value's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Chino was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Jonathan Lopez was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Angel Santiago also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Looking ahead, Animo Bunche will challenge Downtown Magnets at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Suns have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something the Stallions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Central City Value, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-1 loss against Collins Family on the 30th.
