Recap: Waverly Vikings vs. Blair Bears
The Waverly Vikings lost to the Blair Bears on December 5th, but the Waverly Vikings didn't allow the Blair Bears the same satisfaction on Saturday. Waverly secured a 52-48 W over Blair. The win made it back-to-back wins for Waverly.
Waverly's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ashton Heffelfinger led the charge by scoring 19 points. Heffelfinger continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Rine, who scored 13 points.
Waverly's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Blair, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waverly and Scottsbluff will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Scottsbluff will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Blair is on the road again on Saturday and play against Bennington on January 6, 2024.
